 Synopsis
Piper's pub should be considered a world class pub. It has the appearance of a fine New York Irish bar with a Guinness as good as any Dublin bar can serve. Couple that with a great staff, good food and a toot on the pipes now and then and you have to look no further. No matter how long it takes you to decide what to drink it will take longer to dance around the food menu.

 Bar Hours
Open 7 days a week from 11 AM 'til late.

 Happy Hour
Guinness is sold for $3.00 per 20 ounce pints on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all day. All drafts are $1.00 off between 5 - 7PM on Thursday and Friday.

All drafts are $1.00 off all day Sunday (it's South Side Employee Appreciation Day)

Did I mention that In Pittsburgh gave them the Perfect Pint award for Guinness?

 Holiday Closing
Closed on the major holidays.

 Beer, Wines & Spirits
They have 24 taps available featuring English, Scottish and Irish Ale along with US micro brews. A selection of beer and wine in bottles are available and should not be overlooked. Spirit drinkers are well served here as Piper's has one of the better collections of Scotch. A visit to their web site will give you the full menu.

 Food
The menu is full of English and Irish meals such as Guinness stew in a bread bowl to Scotch eggs. The food is well made and authentic, not gimmicky. From my travels in the UK and Ireland I have found Irish food to be plentiful, delicious and a good value. It's better than French cuisine. If you want real food for real people then march on in.

Sunday brunch will be offered in October.

Food Hours
As with most Pittsburgh pubs they serve from 11 AM until about an hour before closing.

 Entertainment
They have living people perform often and on occasion will have bag pipers come in. As to be expected they get some Irish singers but a diverse mix of music can be enjoyed. I don't have a regular schedule on their entertainment yet.

 Cigar Smoking
Smoking at the bar is permitted. Cigars are for sale at the bar as well.

 Cash Problem?
The nearest ATM is the PNC Bank at the corner of South 18th and Carson. It is inside and is not accessible after 4 PM on weekdays except for Friday until 6 PM. First Nation Bank between S. 17th and S. 18th Streets, on the same side of the street, is about one block away. PNC bank has a 24-hour ATM at the CoGo's at South 10th and Carson.

 Parking
The Parking Authority has 3 parking lots nearby.  One at the corner of S. 18th and Carson Street and another on Carson between S 19th & S20th. The third is on S 18th at Sidney Street. Please feed the meters since they tag 24 hours a day. Street meters are not enforced after 6:00PM.
