Head Brewer: Andrew Maxwell
Opened Tuesday, August 19, 1997. This is number six for Pittsburgh.
Synopsis
One could call this a beautiful bar or a beautiful restaurant. What is
immediately apparent is how New Englander's know how to do things right. The
bar and brewing facilities are displayed with Yankee pride. Expect this brewpub
to soon be in a calendar.
Bar Hours
They open seven days a week at 11:30 AM. Closing on Monday - Thursday at
midnight. Closing on Friday and Saturday is at 1:00 AM. Forgot to ask about
Sunday but I would guess midnight.
Happy Hour
I will have to go back to check on this. Who wants to go with me?
Holiday Closing
Being a national chain it would be expected to be open all but Christmas.
Beer, Wines & Spirits
The bar has two sets of 10 tap handles and one hand pump. Currently six beers
are available. They are served in 10 ounce and pints glasses and pitchers.
They have six holding tanks next to the dining room. A sampler can be had for
$4.95. You get six beers on the nicest looking mat. All of the beer is well
made and enjoyable. The All American Light Lager deserves a special note. It
is light tasting with a quick finish but it has a pronounced grain taste. If
you want to drink what beer once was this one is it. The W's and S's are here
too but beer is better. No word yet if they plan takeaway.
Pale Ale, All American Light Lager, Nut Brown Ale, Pilgrim's Porter, Black Raspberry Ale and AAA Lager are standard features.
They have one hand pump at the bar.
Food
Seven entrees along with a range of sandwiches and 2 soft crust pizzas. A large
number of appetizers look good for snacks as well.
Food Hours
Food is served pretty much till the end. The have a limited "Pub Menu" from
3:30 - 5:00 PM and it also kicks in two hours before closing.
Entertainment
None but if you get a chance to talk to the brewers it can be most entertaining.
Cigar Smoking
No cigar or pipe smoking please.
Cash Problem?
National City Bank has an ATM near by. You can see it from the main entrance.
Parking
The place is surrounded by a vast parking lot. You will find a spot.
