Forbes is one way out from downtown. The Parkway East, I-376, westbound has an exit (Oakland) that will take you up Bates. The eastbound lanes do not have an exit. If you come outbound on the Blvd. of the Allies, be aware that you can not turn left onto Bates.
Synopsis
After Gomer took off or the Marines, Wally's business fell of. Year's latter
Mayberry went wet and Wally converted his old shop into a bar. This is it. Not
your typical bar in a college town (Oakland is home to the University of
Pittsburgh). They have good beer and people who know how to handle them. The
beer is not overpriced.
Bar Hours
Open 7 days a week for lunch and diner. They close late.
Happy Hour
A dollar off on drafts each Monday. The beers are half-off every day between 9
and 10.
Holiday Closing
Beer, Wines & Spirits
Try the "Tap Sampler". It's three beers in 5 ounce glasses for $4.50. You get
the two house brews and a third of your choice. The bar has 11 drafts and well
over 100 bottles to choose from. The hand pump is back on every Wednesday.
Food
Real fire oven pizza and dishes to make you forget about typical bar food.
Food Hours
Pretty much the same as the bar.
Cash Problem?
National City bank has an ATM on Forbes just off Oakland Ave.
Parking
For those unfamiliar with Oakland it is parking hell. Find a place and walk if
you must but find a place. A public pay lot is next door. A private lot is
next door. It cost $3.00 at night and Saturday.
