Synopsis
This is one of the few taverns I have been to where you can make friends with
people you have never met before. They have more on tap than Hefner. About 20 of
the 50 drafts are Belgium's. When you add the bottle selection you will see why
this is the best Belgium bar in this pert of the state.
Bar Hours
Monday through Saturday, 11:00AM to Midnight.
Sunday, 3:00PM to 9:00PM. (It was 1-9 but football season is over.)
Happy Hour
Monday through Friday, $1.00 off pitchers, 50 cents off large drafts, 25 cent
wings.
Wednesday is Import and Micro night.
Holiday Closing
Memorial Day, Easter, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Beer, Wines & Spirits
The first bar in town to have 50 beers on tap. At least 20 of the taps are Belgium and that makes 30 taps for micros and imports. They have two hand pumps but only one is usually running. All the drafts move well so you should not experience any off flavors. As in all bars the have a wide range of wines and spirits.
Cask Conditioned Ale
They use to serve a new cask-ale each Wednesday at 6:00 PM. But as of February 1998 the pump out two cask ales everyday. They have been moving well and there is no need to hold back. Cask ale is not pressurized with gas so you get a less carbonated beer with a smoother taste and more flavor.
Food
Italian style. As a special note, I must add that the Edge has a tastiest hot (as in baked) Italian hoagie in town.
Food Hour
About the same as bar hours but maybe an hour short.
Entertainment
Darts in the Pub Room.
Festivals
In June 1997 Jeff created the first European Beer Festival. It is believed to be the first ever beer fest in the US that had only European brands. We will keep you posted if this becomes an annual event.
Cigar Smoking
Cigar smoking is permitted at the bar. They have a number of fine cigars for sale.
Cash Problem?
National City Bank has an ATM one block away at Balm and Penn Circle West.
Parking
They have a private lot that can accommodate a good number of cars. Street parking is free.
