A good pub for the young. The beer is good and of good value. Unless they have changed recently opening is at 11:30.

This pub opens at noon. Very few pubs in London offer a wide range of ale on pump. This one has 12 beer engines and I can find no pub with more. Yes, some do have more pumps but they only serve three beers. A bloke can enjoy ales from across England here over the course of a few days. It took me three days in a row, but I had several repeats.

For those of us looking for what is now called Real Ale this is a mandatory stop. During my year 2000 tour I found more ale here than the Wenlock Arms (N1), which is another must stop. The beer is well taken care of and the staff is friendly and on the ball. It was my pleasure to ask if Mike wanted "one for yourself".

I cannot envision a tourist ever being near here, which may be a good reason to stop in. The outside looks more like a country pub and that in it self is worth the walk. Actually it is across from the station.

Do not confuse this pub with the Royal George at 133 Charing Cross Rd WC2
